Elegant Southern Michigan Wedding | Cece + Nick
A modern, sunny wedding near Gun Lake is just what I needed. I had the privilege of documenting Cece and Nick’s wedding this summer as a second photographer and it was truly such a sweet and emotional day. Cece and Nick could not have been kinder, even to me as a second shooter they had never met!
I’m grateful to be a witness to the tender love they share, and that I got to join the freakin’ party.
Their choice of colors and decor was minimal and chic, and expertly done. I loved the all black of the grooms’s side, alongside the gentle neutral tones of the bridesmaids.
Their ceremony was at The Woods in West Michigan, which has easily become a favorite venue to shoot weddings. The venue has beautiful cozy cottages for the bridal party to get ready and even for family or guests to stay for the weekend if need be. The venue has a blend of indoor and outdoor options for guests to wander around, a lovely outdoor spot for ceremonies, a fire pit with some shaded cocktail areas around the outside of the building, and a bright and open indoor space for receptions with plenty of room for a live band. It’s located right by Gun Lake, and has plenty of greenery around the venue for photo spots. Not to mention the dreamy light that bounces all around between the modern white buildings. What a dream!
Cece and Nick opted to step out from their reception for a few minutes to grab some sunset photos, and I just always think this is a good choice if the sun is shining the evening of your wedding.
