Meet your photographer

Hi.

My name is Halley (rhymes with “valley”). I’ve been doing this thing since 2013, when I shot my first wedding as a teenager. I’m in it for the little things, inside of big love—moments of connection between you and your people—these are what keep me here behind my camera.

What you can expect from me when I’m behind the camera

By nature I am soft-spoken and gentle spirited. (But darned if I can’t wrangle that rogue uncle for your family photos!) I’m a pro adapter and troubleshooter of random problems. I watch and listen with curiosity, wonder, and attentiveness. I will offer you a steady, calming presence and will do everything I can to make you feel like yourself in front of my camera. I will support you with gentle posing to hopefully evoke some bright and cozy feelings.

It is my mission in life to love others, and offer goodness & light to the world. You are safe here.

A poet soul, telling the story of you.

I am married to my very best friend, Josiah, and mother of two pure sweet bundles of delight that are my daughters, Wren and Indigo. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, and I first picked up a camera because my dad owned a local ad agency and let me try out some of his equipment when I was in my early teens.

When I’m not doing photography things, you might find me painting, walking at nearby parks, playing “I’m gonna getchya” with my youngest, sipping a latte with a dear friend, eating my weight’s worth in cheese & crackers, playing a video game, or reading a mystery novel.

I am a follower of Jesus, and this informs my decisions about my life and my business. I am committed to honoring and loving you and yours, without judgement.

“I believe in kindness. Also in mischief. Also in singing, especially when singing is not necessarily prescribed.”
